Mark Zuckerberg Visited Nollywood, crashed a hip hop music video, and met some of Nigeria's biggest stars.
Mark Zuckerberg has sojouneyed to Nairobi Kenya to learn mobile money business, & here's what he officially stated on his account:
"Just landed in Nairobi! I'm here to meet with entrepreneurs and developers, and to learn about
mobile money - where Kenya is the world leader.
I'm staying around a place called iHub , where
entrepreneurs can build and prototype their
ideas. Two of the engineers I met -- Fausto and
Mark -- designed a system to help people use
mobile payments to buy small amounts of
cooking gas, which is a lot safer and better for
the environment than charcoal or kerosene. It's
inspiring to see how engineers here are using
mobile money to build businesses and help their
community.
I had lunch in Nairobi with Joseph Mucheru, the
Kenyan Cabinet Secretary of Information and
Communications. We talked about internet
access and his ambitious plans for connecting
everyone in Kenya.
We ate at MAMA Oliech Restaurant. -- a local place everyone recommended. One of my favorite parts of traveling to a new country is trying the food. I enjoyed ugali and a whole fried
tilapia for the first time and loved them both!
As I'm here in Africa, I'm deeply disappointed to hear that SpaceX's launch failure destroyed
our satellite that would have provided
connectivity to so many entrepreneurs and
everyone else across the continent.
Fortunately, we have developed other
technologies like Aquila that will connect
people as well. We remain committed to our
mission of connecting everyone, and we will
keep working until everyone has the
opportunities this satellite would have provided.
Am with Andrea Besmehn and 2 others at Lake Naivasha, Kenya.
For some good news, visiting Kenya means
getting to see amazing natural beauty and
wildlife. Here are some photos from around
Lake Naivasha. Bonus: baby giraffes." - Mark Zuckerberg
What his fan said, "Mark Zuckerberg,Facebook founder is something
else.Came in without any noise, walked on the
street in Yaba, jogged on the street in Ikoyi, ate
pounded yam in a buka, always in his jeans and t-
shirt. He spoke about the energy and passion of our youths. Everywhere he went to, no airs,no
overbearing security. Simplicity was the watch word. When he met the President,he was formally
dressed. He got everything right.Hope our youths
are watching and learning. A very good role model. God, 54 billion American dollars walking the streets of Lagos? Where are the kidnappers?
Shame on you. Thanks Mark, for the free public relations job. You've proved to us & the world that our beloved country Nigeria is safe enough.
God bless you."
